Created Bush
media installation/sculpture

When George W. Bush ran for president the first time our news media told us that he was a 'real' cowboy, the every man's man. Images of clearing brush and tending to his ranch in Crawford Texas. Just like the rest of us. The popular culture magazines would poll their readers by asking which candidate would you rather get a drink with/party with. No dout it was W, or at least the W before he became a born again Christian. And heaven forbid we want to have a drink with Al Gore the boring intellectual, and clearly the guy more suited for the job.

The sculpture below is a reinterpretation of how I saw the creation of Bush through excellent wrangling of the media. A barstool wearing cowboy boots with a small tv atop broadcasting a headshot of Bush's face. The TV is adorned with a cowboy hat.
